That's Gelda's cape, she buried Gelda with her clothes (mantle?) and take the cape.wait... her furry cape... is it... Gelda's back skin and fur !? dun dun duuuun
What do you mean by "foreshadowed"? In chapter 15, Elf-chan literally said she was dead.Gelda's death was so obvious and foreshadowed, but her reaction to it still made me cry.
Yes, that's the foreshadowing for this flashback scene that happened further in the past than that chapter (remember, foreshadowing is simply an indication of something that will happen in the future from that point of time). What do you mean by "foreshadowed"? Again, it is in the future, from the point in time of this flashback sequence....Okay.
Just to state my case, you originally said "Gelda's death was so obvious and foreshadowed", which means you are referring to the death of Gelda being foreshadowed. By your own definition, foreshadowing is "an indication of something that will happen in the future", to which I agree with. However, that means that as you described Gelda's death as being foreshadowed, it implies you also meant that Gelda's death is "something that will happen in the future" according to your definition, which is untrue since it was already stated in a previous chapter that Gelda had already died, meaning her death has already happened in the past.
I think it would've been better if you said that the telling of how Gelda died in the story was foreshadowed, meaning it was indicated in a previous point of time that the readers will be told in the future about the circumstances around her death. This coincides with your definition and is what's actually being foreshadowed in the previous chapters before this one.
Forgive me for the yap, but I hope you'll see where I'm coming from.
Correct, by my definition the flashback to before Gelda's death started last chapter, and that was the current timeframe for the story being told, so events that had not happened yet to the current point in time of the story are referred to as being foreshadowed (even if stated outright in the future, shown in a previous chapter); once the flashback ended we returned to the current timeline where Elf-chan is/was sick and recuperating with everyone, leading into going to visit Gelda's grave, and it became solely an event in the past for the story again, rather than current. Story-time is linear to itself, but it can jump to a different point in the timeline of the overall story being told within a given moment.tldr; by your definition, gelda's death was something yet to happen before this chapter, but gelda had already died before the events of this story.
