Oh dear. After that guard Helmut would have treated me that way, I would have broken free there in the carriage on the spot. "I saved you and this is how you pay me back? FU! I'm outta here." Then I would have headed back to the old town, where I stayed before, because I have a good name there and the guild might back me up. Also I wouldn't only inform the local authorities, but everyone I know, to spread the news of how I have been framed by the guards of the other town. I'd make sure to tell, how this could never ever be a mistake, as no guard could ever be that stupid (even if I'm not sure about that) and then stay there for another few weeks until everything is settled in a legal way. Or I would personally take out everyone, who wrongly charged me, even if that means to create some real charges. And if that doesn't clear my name in the end I go with another identity. Sounds not to clever? Well, what would have been the alternative?:

Did play another number on me, I couldn't foresee? (And don't tell me, MC would have escaped the moment it got dangerous. If their are probably magic sealing cuffs, then there might be magic sealing spells or curses and they use them, while I don't expect them.) Rikio (MC) is that kind of isekai character, that would have been slaughtered in some of the better isekais to set a bad example for the real MC.

Man. There are some good chapters and then something outrageous like that happens. This guy just isn't aware of any danger. ^^

@Monkey123 why would they use magic sealing cuffs? Even if the guards themselves were unaware, it's pretty clear at the end of the chapter that the whole thing was a set-up by Camille to test and see what Rikio could actually do, so they would've been given orders that would let Rikio attempt to worm his way out.

If they completely locked him up with no hope of escape, Camille wouldn't really learn anything, and if they're investigating him as the guy who defeated a unique monster they probably want to keep the chance open to get on his good side, rather than jumping straight to hard imprisonment and torture to figure out who he is.

There's also no reason to drug the tea he drank after escaping, since by that point the test was over and doing that would make it pretty obvious the lady of the house wasn't actually on his side.
