His biggest concern in that moment was the demons. Despite killing literal millions of them, there were still a lot left and his orbital laser was only one shot. he Needed Freid to order a retreat ASAP or he wouldn’t have been able to go directly to the mountain to save Kaori

now shooting eri in the back might not have triggered Freid into continuing the fight but it might have And that’s not a risk Hajime was prepared to accept. Especially when eri is so weak compared to him. He wiped out her undead army in seconds And those were some of the strongest knights in the world. He doesn’t view her as a threat. Or instead of giving her a new body he could just make her a cyborg (Prosthetic limbs, armored skin, etc) and help her level up to get her closer to the rest of the entourage.
