Its called the whip. One group holds back on delivering chapter that's long been done. But the second another group releases the same chapter the first group gets its ass in gear because it feels threatened. Not really a new phenomenon.

its called a rushed release in response to a snipe its too bad groups like this are always capable of doing a rush job when someone snipes them... almost makes it look like they would be able to keep up a release schedule of less then 3 months a release if they really wanted too

There isn't a single reason for the MC to accept this request other than the fact that the author is piss poor at seeing the world from the point of view of his own character
If the MC was ready to smack a noble to defend his friends, why would he feel guilt or the need to make amends?
The character's setting was in destroyed in three panels so that the author could find a convenient way for the party to accept the quest

@Sylphrena not that he cared or felt guilty, I think the reason is that it would bring up a lot of trouble later on regarding the guild if he declined the request. He would very likely travel to lots of towns, and he would have some needs of them here and there, even if he didn't want to. If he really didn't really need the use of the guild, why bother registering at the guild and why the trouble face when he was asked to show the girls' status cards? Because it's too troublesome right? There's no lost of him accepting the request either, excepting wasting a bit of time and if he succeeded, he would have to access all the connections from the manager which would be useful sooner or later.

@Sylphrena You have a severe lack of understanding of the situation. He's helping them because when he turns against the church he's going to need an ally to at least allow him to stay at some inns etc, and to convince the people he's not the enemy.
