Hmmm...I don’t know how to feel about this - it looks like the Male Lead is hiding secrets and I’m curious to see how this goes. Interesting, nevertheless and looking forward to the next chapter.

You can already tell that his intended benevolence is hitting really far from its intended mark.

The entire room is full of folks who might as well be hyenas that have just been told about a bone. How is this supposed to secure her a happy life, exactly? Dammit, ol' boomer, ya could'a asked the girl first whether she was even remotely on board with any of this. XD

@Pokari I couldn't agree more. While I do think the grandfather's affection and desire to protect her is sincere, in this particular coarse of action, I think it ends up being more selfish the selfless. This whole situation seems like poor planning/foresight. Announcing to your family that whoever marries her inherits turns people into greedy vultures and even if someone was sincere, it leaves their motives in question for her. Putting the pressure on her to pick someone from his family and to also do so with an extremely limited time span also is unfair especially to someone he's supposed to respect so much. Add on top of that he's asking a girl who is only 22 and feels indebted to him to make such a choice. That's just the injustice to her, then there's the burden he's put on his grandsons. They're likely to have their parents breathing down their neck to marry her. What if they want to inherit but don't want the bride? What if they want the bride but don't want the company + family drama that comes with?

I can understand him adoring her and wanting her to more officially enter their family. That said, he really wasn't thinking of anyone's feelings or wishes but his own. It would have been much better if he just simply told his wish for her to marry one his grandsons (without pressuring her) and then put some clauses in his will like : 1. if she marries one of the grandsons by the time he dies, they inherit. 2. If she hasn't married, privately disclose to her the plan to do such if she marries one the grandsons. 3. If she decides to forgo marrying into the family the company should go to _________ which would only be revealed after she's made her decision. Even if he wants to see her marry, at the very least start with having a private conversation with her before you start anything.

@Aeriandra:

The worst and best of it is indeed that he's by all appearances totally acting out of love and respect (for her and her great-grandfather)... But, with the worldview of someone who was raised in a highly traditional environment, wherein, among other things, the idea that a woman might be able to take care of herself is just totally alien. To say nothing of old Confucian ideas about families and marriages, no doubt. It is totally believable that he might think this is something he has to settle before he dies, as a matter of grave responsibility. And I can't really blame him too much on these fronts; he's just old (and probably no one's dared tell him he's wrong in decades...)

But even with all that... he should have been able to figure out the terrible consequences of going about this by attaching a prize to her! Alas, he seems to be caught up in his own private fantasies about how this is all going to be so. great. The whole thing is actually rather sad. Particularly because I know this sort of thing happens in real life, too (well, in broad strokes: I'm thinking of all the well-meaning grandparents pushing for arranged marriages in ways that won't actually bring happiness and just cause rifts in families—not this particular extravagant nightmare of rich-suitor families.)

Does this mean that the dude from last chapter might've been after the heir status and not her? They did mention that he was Jin ha's cousin.

@Pokari Good points, as you're right, the general line of thinking he has isn't unusual. Even today there is strong push for a woman to get married before a certain age in order to ensure her stability in life. Even if they have good intentions, it's just too bad that when they're thinking of "what's good" for a person, they forget to include said person in the planning. Just because something seems like a fantastic idea doesn't make it universally so, especially when it involves someone else's life. They can make plans all they like but in the end they're not the ones having to take responsibility.

I just groaned when I got to the end. He means well but Gramps just fed her to the sharks! And to have the marriage timeline planned out so... No pressure. Goodness.
