god, figured it'd be an understandable enough situation once we got the story from Matsuri herself but what a shitty situation to be left in. I'm looking forward to the part 2 of this but very much Not looking forward to the pain it's gonna bring, no wonder Matsuri was ready to throw it all away with Ren if this manga plan doesn't pan out

thanks for the chapter!

ah, shit-head was a gambler then. still can't believe that the industry is allowed to exist

So now we know, the crime was being naive and letting her pathetic husband convince her to do crimes for him? I hope their daughter is ok with that bum.
I don't know if I'd agree with her being naive from it. I don't know if it's a thing in irl Japan, but in a fair bit of fiction I've seen, debt collectors will go after children for their parents' debt. which often results in trafficking

of course, looking at divorce would be my ideal, rather than robbing a bank. but I'm also decently misandrist, so I'm quick to drop a husband anyway

again, no idea if it's that prevalent of a thing in irl Japan

Debt can also be inherited in Japan, which could also be one of the reasons they worry for their child. Also the husband was a deadbeat so I could totally see him taking out debt in the family name which could leave her saddled with part of it.

Let me guess the second part, he married a younger woman, start a new family, give the child to his grandparents to raise her and he's still addict to gambling?

Also, the guy is a little douche bag for targeting the freshly graduate young woman to be his girlfriend. of course she will be easily impressed with little to none experience to adult life. So an easy target.

I'm not saying he's a bad guy or a predator, but with 7 years age gap he knew he will have the upper hand in their relationship.

ah, i missed that, thanks. even so, i still think it qualifies as grooming, just because she's a little older than i initially thought doesn’t remove the power imbalance of a senior colleague who trained her and later exploited that trust.
They dated, married and had a two years old daughter before things fell apart. So I think he was sincere at first, but his gambling addiction consumed him.

I wouldn't say he groomed her with a long-term plan to exploit her, unless he planned 3 years ahead, which would make him a mastermind criminal. Imo, his selfishness just grew later, with his obsession with money.
