it's not erased to begin with.
it's not even clear what happens with the girl to begin with, she could have taken the backdoor to begin with. it's something rather common in japan, people just.... dip.
there's companies specialized in that, setting you up with a new identity somewhere else, no questions asked.
idk where this'll go, it's too soon to say. given the tone it's probably a happy ending romcom with a time skip gimmick pulling all sorts of cheap deus ex-machinas.
