Just binge read this in a few hours from start to finish, really really good series, actually pleasantly surprised ngl. Usually I don't really like MCs that are supposed to be adults but act like high schoolers (or even before) without an explanation on why that's the case, but for some reason this time I didn't really mind it, plus on the second half he got way better.
I'm seeing a lot of people complain about the pacing being bad, and I can definitely see how the last arc could've been annoying to read with a single chapter per month over the course of a year with pretty much just them having sex and the chapter's page count being only around 10-15, but I feel like that was more of a slow release issue rather than a pacing one, cause while binge reading this I had absolutely no problems and almost never felt like things were going too slow. I'd even argue the pacing is rather great, at least by Japanese romcom standards.
I also really liked both the premise, it was actually interesting to read the way it explored the topic of creating contraceptives, usually in other romcoms the topic would be used just as an excuse to have MC and FeMC interact, but it was actually decently explored here (more on that "decently" later), and was even way more prevalent than the romance at least in the first 30 chapters or so.
The cast was nice as well, with mostly recognizable and distinct personalities and character designs.
Honestly, all this sounds great, but my main problem with this series I it's ending. This could have hugely benefited from at least 20-30 chapters more, but imo ideally more like 50 at least. There was just so much more that could've been explored, of their relationship, of the cast (what was the last time we even saw her dad, which has been constantly shown to have a highly exaggerated attachment to her daughter? Connected to that, wasn't FeMC supposed to go live by herself, or at this point, find somewhere to live with MC, because work is way too far away from her parent's place? What was the deal with MC's backstory, which was only barely hinted at so many chapters ago with his whole premature ejaculation problem? And I could continue, there are so many things I'd be more interested in knowing that haven't been addressed or only barely so), even of their work (now that FeMC actually has the possibility to test her products on herself, what kind of other condoms would she have tried? What would it have led up to? On those two questions alone you could go on for tens of chapters, especially at this page count, and there's probably more), and I also would've just liked to see them as a couple more than what they have shown.
To be fair, most romcoms don't even go this far, and artificially stall the confession for forever (btw, does anyone here remember rent a girlfriend? Yeah that shit is still going and has over 370 chapters, and they've been on a date for like the last 40 chapters or something, with almost double the average page count of this manga, and it's probably not even half done, absolutely baffling to me how that series is so popular. Had nothing to do with this manga but if there a chance to shit on rag I'll do it every time lmao), and/or end the manga right or just a bit after the confession, with maybe a kiss if you're lucky, which makes no sense at all to me, since being able to see the main couple actually act as a couple is just as, if not arguably more, interesting than the build up to get to it + climax of the confession.
This isn't substantially better, but it still has shown some interaction between them, as well as them having sex, which is really rare to be shown in this way, usually the leads don't even get to that point at all, even when the story actually continues post them becoming a couple, and if you do get sex it's not more than a couple of panels (both things aren't inherently a bad mind you, it depends on the manga obviously, but usually I'd rather the Manga actually explore the theme of sexuality, especially when most romcom are set in high school, when people usually start having these kinda relationships, and seeing how the characters react and handle that is pretty much always interesting to me)
I actually have way more I could talk about, but honestly this comment has gotten wayyyy too long already, so I'm just gonna stop here. Overall, this was a great read, one I really didn't expect to be as good as it was
