I guess he wants revenge for the captain of the guard to some degree? Wants to get stronger for reasons? On the long term his goals seem very hazy. On the short term he apparently wants to get to level 100 in a labyrinth, I suppose.

I feel like making his sister his twin was a retcon to try and force a similarity or something. He was clearly talking about her like an actual little sister previously, not a twin who just happened to be born so perfectly that they are in different years. Even when he was talking about working to care for them and mentioning his sister wanting to do so too seemed to imply she was only just getting old enough to start working herself or something.
