I guess the author put a foreshadowing from the flashback (previous) chapter.

If we look carefully, the shelf door with the talisman have a little bit of extra opening right in front of it (the cardboards aren’t immediately beside it) so it can be easily accessed (by Asahi-sensei), and nothing on top of it, hence it never opened on its own until now (pg.7).
