If they were smart, they would have opened the store next to an established inn. It'd give them access to merchants/bored travelers and help build word of mouth. They'd get a stream of potential customers and the inn would get free night time security and once it's more well known the store could be a major draw for more customers for the inn as well. Also maybe they could set up a TV and charge admission for a movie or something. A nice symbiotic relationship.
