I think most people root for Risa because she's very relatable and she's refreshingly honest about her feelings and willing to be upfront, which is a characteristic I think many adore and want to emulate. But I still feel for Hiroko. There were multitudes and multitudes of women and men in the community that weathered the past and history for Risa to feel comfortable enough to be so honest and open about who she is. Hiroko is jaded and has been through a lot of emotional trauma.

I don't think either character is better than the other, but I do know who Ayaka likes, so I'm rooting for her happiness!

It's definitely something I feel a bit bittersweet about when baby gays ask why we need Pride at all. I'm SO happy for them that they don't understand why, but I'm also a bit bitter that they don't understand even a little.

Of course, then the last few years happened in the Western sphere, and perhaps some of them have learned just how thinly veiled the tolerance of gays is, let alone queers in general.

It's so refreshing to see fiction portraying the lesbian experience so faithfully, honestly baffling to me. I don't know HOW MANY times I've seen these dynamics happening in real life and how many times I've seen myself in their positions. From the pushy, hopeless but clueless romantic, to the eager love blind lesbian and also the useless traumatized senior lesbian.

No characters are flawless and none of them are actually evil (at least not the main ones). Ij my opinion, what makes it all more real is that there are real life issues at stake. I can feel them walking on eggshells like it's my own job on the line lmao.

Hopefully they can clear things up soon enough to show us what a real relationship would look like in this universe, because the last thing I want is to see them kiss once and then roll credits. That would be a waste of a perfect build up from friends to lovers. A tragedy in a genre where good scripts are hard to come by. If there is good in this world, the author will pick up the pace and show us everything: the first date, moving in together, getting married, goddammit even kids!

This series just keeps getting better. At first I just enjoyed the funny faces and Hiroko's absurd excuses, but there's a beating heart under all that mess that revealed itself over time. Massive props to the translators too of course.

Even if only for a very brief time, I'm sure being smothered in tits like those does solve a lot of problems.

"but we are from the same generation!" really struck hard like. yeah. yeah we are and it gives the illusion it has never been worse than the way it is now

All the love in the comments for Risa, I don't know where it comes from, she didn't even try to understand Hiroko at all and what may have caused her to act the way she did. She only makes her own assumptions and is acting only on her emotions lately, the first chapters were different. The moment she gets what she thinks only matters to Hiroko she falls for it (tits, what is understandable but she picked it out as bad when it comes to someone else then her). She isn't a bad character overall, just maybe a bit too young/inexperienced in life and love, so I hope after reflecting on her hatred towards Hiroko and hearing her story from the bartender, that she can find her love but it clearly isn't Ayaka.

There's a thing that is standing out to me that I think is somewhat funny, and that is that Yuuya truly just seems to be an allaround stand-up guy. Since he's been a named and very often recurring character from the very beginning, I have been waiting for the point where he would become involved in all this in some more active way eventually, but nope, dude's just chilling and cheering people on from the sidelines.
He really just seems to be concerned with making sure that the people around him are doing well, dislikes conflict, but not in the way that he'd just avoid it but rather in the way that he tries to actively prevent it, or, failing that, tries to solve it by mediating, and back during that thing with Hiroko's boss he wasn't shocked about the rumours that Hiroko might be a lesbian, and rather by the fact that anybody would spread rumours with the intent of hurting her in the first place.
Dude simply seems to be a decent guy who has figured out work-life balance, good for him.
