Wow, sorry, but this is beyond retarded. All this talk about honor, yet no one cares about the fact that Yae was willing to give up her life for the two of them, and no matter who wins this battle, she will lose, her sacrifice meaningless. The guy is a maniac, okay, but Azumi should know better than this.

For Sakon only a death in a battle would be a good way to go. His whole talk with Azumi was about that. He made his resolve after the talk with the searchparty by giving all his money away to pay off Taes debt.

Him just giving that up to live with a person he doesnt love and slowly dieing to his illness would have been way out of character. It would be optimal for Tae, but for Sakon theres only 1 way to go and Azumi knows that.

Foolish certainly, but its a different culture and beliefs. Its like the vikings and dieing on the battlefields to go to valhalla or Seppuku that has both been romanticization in literature.

I’m glad Yae survived.

And with Sakon, remember that these fencers have basically only known the sword their whole life. Live by the sword, die by the sword and all that. To them, there is no better way to die than to die in a duel with someone you admire. And Sakon admires Azumi greatly.
