What's going on? I don't see the queen having got anything to do with Clarisse. Is it a plot to get closer to the duke? Maids were gossiping the duke hasn't forgotten the queen, but we saw previously it was the other way around. Of course if it became public knowledge Clarisse is a golem master, not only would the king himself probably want to meet her, but death sentences and all that would be promptly forgotten. The duke should adopt her before that, though, because it's unknown whether the king would allow the duke's house to possess a golem master. But if she was already a legally adopted daughter, there's nothing anyone could easily do about it.
Still, it was pretty funny the butler used this banquet as a ruse to make the teacher stay, yet then they just left him to rot in his chamber.

Claris strikes me as the kind of child who would gush about how pretty the queen is in a genuine manner while forgetting she's royalty, thereby forgetting any need to cozy up to her for noble reasons and only trying to befriend her for genuine reasons.
She's an adorable, precious little cinnamon roll is what I'm saying and anyone who dislikes her can't be trusted.
He's long fucked up any chances at the prospect of cozying up to royalty, he really should have cut ties immediately, quickly go to the Duke and say he can't do this after all because he lost family to hers and book it before any potential for her to say anything.
