It's 'our fault' in literally no legal standing whatsoever. Just because you write on a piece of paper that you absolve yourself of responsibility doesn't mean its true. In any case, that is not what the "mods" said. That's what you interpreted from that button. It's extra protection that's almost worthless but it doesn't cost MD anything to require people to click it.

They paywall their latest chapter for a handful of days and then it becomes available to everyone. Literally a nothing burger, but mangadex decided to be holier than thou and banned them from here even though everything here is basically piracy anyway.
I already have to use other manga sites ever since the great DMCA BS that mangadex let pass a while ago. Starting to think this site is about to die.

As someone who has been in and out of translation projects, the issue is less the fan translation and "piracy" itself (especially when there is no English version or if the "official" translated version is of horrifically bad quality), but when people are actively profiting off of it.

They don't legally have the copyright to profit off of it.

Me, the group I worked with, and other translation groups I've talked to do it in our free time for the love of the Manga/LN series and the community surrounding it as fellow fans. Not to profit off the community. We don't accept donations or use ad links/websites.

People who actively try to milk it and make money ruin it for everyone else because it's when you start bankrolling it you really get the attention of copyright lawyers.

Nintendo emulation projects already got a hard time, and it just gets worse when someone starts charging people for their work so Nintendo brings the lawyer hammer and bams everyone.

I feel like the bans are counterproductive. It punishes the readers (I had no clue for months) and it just drives traffic to their terrible website.
Mangadex should revise such rules.
