Indeed, Hayami.
A quirky gesture, but a heartfelt and lovely one, all the same.
The pacing of this one feels pretty good. Ayumu's got her heart and mind set, and Hayami's still sorta kinda humoring her and finding it odd, if seemingly more endearing each instance. But the slow shift is there, in the little moments and expressions and pauses whenever she beholds Ayumu's efforts and words and intent.
I do sorta expect Hayami to "awaken" to the concept of romantic attraction; perhaps her history with running being attached to memories of her mother made her someone single-minded, and she just....never gave time or attention to pursuing romance, and thus it never came up for her (and her CHF Asuka relegated her own feelings to the wayside like she did, as a result).
And perhaps it's Ayumu, as forthright as she is, who obliviously declared her intent where everyone else was "mindful enough" to not make the effort, and thus the paradigm is now shifting for Hayami, bit by bit.
I don't know if that's what the author is going for - that everyone before just "assumed" and Ayumu's just too "moron"-coded to do the same and thus she "wins".
But one thing's for sure - and that, is that it is a delight and a treat to have this story.
So thank you for the TL work, as always.
