On top of that, it’s delving further into the current themes of this arc which is questioning the value of “aesthetics” and Jack coming out of his naive shell so to speak. If Itagaki did not want to continue doing this he wouldn’t. Try to think before forming your opinion.

Wouldn't surprise me, but I can also see Jack just straight up losing to Hanayama.

Plot-wise, it makes sense, pacing-wise, I'd expect Jack to ride the hype train a bit more. 50 50.
