Makes me think of that thing with Motobe about how the guy who can choose between life and death is the winner. Since Katsumi recognised at least a little that his kick could kill the guy, he was probably the winner.

Even if we go by Yujiro's definition of whoever stands taller, it was really symbolic how sumo kneeled to karate.
