Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant by official. Assuming the chapters translated up to this point have all the stuff from the volumes, the only afterword Orimoto has written was in the first and it doesn't mention K-On!. There's still a lot untranslated volumes left and it's also possible he did an interview or posted a tweet, but I don't think he's officially said anything about it. The covers look pretty intentional, from the color scheme down to some of the poses and faces, but he's had versions of Rin, Onsa, and Hijiri show up in other works before that are close to how they act here. I think he's just playing up the associations, not that he set out to do K-On! on motorcycles.
