This a great story. I read the English translated volumes in the library when I was younger and it left a deep impression on me.

FYI, the mangaka is a survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

No, my dear scanner/uploader, the main reason why this manga is hidden in obscurity is not because they show genitals of kids that have literally nothing to wear because of war, it's because of Japanese government straight up requesting publishers to cease the publications because "it portrays Japan in negative light" like they did with Ukrainian and russian releases way back in the early 2000s
