Real is singular, and reais is plural.

1 real, 2 reais, etc.

Also, yes, like any good and shitty tourist trap, if you look like a tourist, locals will rip you off.

Poor, polite, japanese folk pretty much extorted out of their money.

Yeah, that's a tourist trap all right. Right off from the arrival, some of the locals will display stereotypes foreigners are accustomed to, badger them into an experience or hand them an object and immediately demand an outrageous fee. Depending on the scam, the angle they'll use could range from intimidation, embarrassment, and threats of legal action.

ele dizendo "100 real" soa mais engraçado, algumas pessoas falam desse jeito, que nem a piada do "me dê dois pão, me dê um pães".

Being scammed is just about the least bad thing that could happen to them in Salvador. The entire place is one giant dumpster fire.

I used to live in Brazil and China when I was younger, I didn't really enjoy the experience because being a foreigner means people see you as a walking purse. Even if you're not that wealthy...
You end up being restricted in foreigners' social circles and not really fitting in the country.
