@joddy701 Ao Aoshi is the most similar manga I can think of. The manga baby steps (https://mangadex.org/title/42/baby-steps) is somewhat alike, in the sense that both have a goal-driven protagonist with an analytic mindset. Then again, Ryuu is a stoic cool guy, whereas Eichirou is a huge dork.
@joddy701 Ao Aoshi is decent but I dont think its very alike to this. Ao doesnt really have a good understanding of soccer. In my opinion Area no Kishi is better (link below). Just like in this, AnK is about a kid who gets injured at a young age which becomes a source of motivation for the boy to play better.
Oh, there comes another shaved head idiot.
So far it's a good read but I seriously fear, that it's going to become some of this generic school sport bs.
Currently Ch. 130 and it seems like Sakuraba is no less of a prick. This moron is a serious thorn in this manga; he's such a piece of shit and the mangaka is rewarding his character for it by lazily making him overpowered. Why the fuck is he even still alive? Run him over already. Or at least make him grow up; he's just an annoying Bakugou-clone.
