Scanlation team is some sort of isekai protagonist. Brilliant work.
I'm sure that the author has a great redemption arc planned for Sakuraba but the level of stupidity is crazy. The guy is what 15? And he thinks like a fucking 8 year old of how everyone needs to respect him.
This manga is a realistic sports manga though highly exaggerated, whatever happens should still make sense. High school players who can consistently score free kicks?? You will never find them at high school level. Even Ronaldo / Messi & Beckham didn't score them all the time. But thats fine because its keeping within the limits set by the mangaka which is that its "PLAUSIBLE". What makes it more compelling is that high school is a big agglomeration of talent & skill. You have people who are crazy talented and are set for a career in professional football & others who do it as a club activity so its not particularly surprisingly to see certain players absolutely smash others.
Sakuraba on the other hands breaks this self limits by being a total retard, he's such a egomaniac that somehow he thinks its better to dribble past 6 people into a super tight angle and shoot rather than passing to a completely unmarked teammate on the penalty spot just for starters. This is him thinking that he should somehow play both Pitcher & Catcher in baseball, Quarterback & Wide receiver in American football, Setter & Wing Spiker in Volleyball.
THATS JUST NOT HOW FOOTBALL WORKS. Never once in the history of the game over 100+ years has a player ever played like Sakuraba where instead of going for a nice and easy assist 99.9% of the time, he instead chooses for personal glory that occurs maybe 5% of the time. Football is a game of 11 players, its physically impossible to play the game yourself, and Sakuraba thinking that he can do that is the peak of arrogance and just extremely poor writing
