Time for my usual Chapter review

Not sure how to comment on the cover page…. I guess how to show land and sea are different? I wonder any special reason for the pear on legoshi shirt.

That is quite a turn from page 3 and 4….. Rather quite bold for that goat to be selling sea creatures in public….. They mentioned poaching laws in ch 108, and this isn’t even in BAM…. Do Land creatures look down on the sea to eat them boldly?

So many Meme of how casually Zaguan eat the octopus.

This chapter has many fun tone shift. 11 is fun, as you can see Legoshi trying not to look down. While you can make the page into horny meme, it also fun to point out how funny the situation is. Note this is not the first time we seen naked Legoshi, as he spent naked time Zaguan in Vol 13 omake [where Seven walked in].

Legoshi has experience with funeral [Leano, Tem], so this is opposite of everything he experienced.

Being a swimmer myself, it is always easier to go into the water fast to accept the water, and it is relaxing as he feels. As one floats in the water it does bring a sort of inner peace.

Legoshi does have a habit of forcing his will, or doing his best to understanding thing, so it is good he recognizes it is arrogance.

I don’t really get the last pages when Zaguan tries to get Legoshi mad. I was told Zaguan is just playful. It could also be Zaguan doesn’t care much, he more on the flow with things, everything else meaningless.

This chapter does fit with the sea belief, flow of life and not to be tied down on things. Quite an important chapter on the Sea size, but not something to review in depth

Many thanks

I love Zaguan, I'm so glad Paru changed her mind and kept him around.

A little thing I loved in this chapter is the fact that when he was translating what the octopus said he cut the part where she was thanking him for eating her daughter, his friendship with Legosi is wonderful, even though they are from completely different cultures they are willing to learn more about each other without forcing their values and beliefs in others.

Okay as much as I love seeing Zaguan in a new chapter it really feels like Paru is going back to that "deep"-moment writing that defies the established logic of their world.

Good example would be page 17 where it says "When a sea creature dies, a part of their world dies with it" ???

I really hope it's just my 1am smoothbrain that can't interpret this but isn't the whole logic of the sea world in Beastars/BC that both life and death doesn't weigh down upon the world of sea creatures. Or maybe Paru is trying to make a statement on the clash of cultural philosphies between land and sea creatures?

The one weird thing about this chapter was Zaguan eating the fried daughter octupus nonchalantly b/c with that logic if someone's daughter went missing and you later find that she got pimped and became a prostitute you should just open up your wallet with a huge grin b/c "it is what it is".

Also the idea that you can fry and eat meat by the sea hopefully means that the Back Alley Market relocated to ports instead of mysteriously getting wiped out like in Beastars and I'm kinda hyped if Paru can fully explore the BAM like she originally emvisioned.

Honestly I see this as pretty consistent with what we already had.

When Zaguan met Legosi, he said that he's not worried if he dies because of sea creatures beliefs, they eat and they are eaten, when their lives end they will just reborn as some other form of sealife continuing the cycle of life and death, they believe that their lives belong to the sea, hence the quote: "When a sea creature dies, a part of their world dies with it"

The reason the octopus was glad that Zaguan ate her daughter is because since he is a sea creature it would just continue the cycle, something like that wouldn't be possible if it was a land creature.

The destruction of the BAM was never a solution to the problems, even Yahya stated that there will definitely be a substitute to that place, and this chapter reinforces that. Louis' message was misinterpreted and instead of facing the issue, society decided to put the dirt under the rug once again.

I missed Zaguan...Not many moments other than him have given me belly laughs, and he sure has accomplished that.
