@Riger That's honestly why I don't get these crime syndicates in fiction sometimes. It only worked in real-life because the boss was making sure his subordinates were properly cared for. Maybe they would never be 'kings,' but they lived decently. In the scenario that the boss is being an asshole... he either disappears, or his body is found in a ditch somewhere. In the event of magical origins... it COULD make sense because the boss is OP. Not here though.
This is a boss that is fundamentally infringing on their existence. The fact this guy is their boss either shows the Lions are cowardly fucks, or they are lawful stupid in their 'oaths' and 'vows.' Either way, it makes no sense how they managed to stay as a crime syndicate.

Edit: And for those saying that the hybrid managed to convince them of his power... the fuck are guns for then? They seem to be used to great effect in this world... yet in those moments where a gun would be a good idea, they don't seem to be used.

My Shishigumi boys!!! They're so precious!! Why did the reunion have to get ruined!??!

Reading the chapter I started to get that feeling:

"Forced to eat things other than meat""The boss has a better grip than his five senses": Oh shit, is their boss?? Can they be?!? Ohshiohshioshioshi

A few pages later: OHSHIOHSHIOHSHIOHSHIOHSHI

Great setup and reveal.

I could see it Meron taking over in this case; after Louis left, there was instability in the group and Meron used that opportunity as an in. He probably has a pretty nasty reputation in the underworld (the guy takes down ELEPHANTS! Don't know how, but ELEPHANTS!), and given what they're saying about him, hybrids have the potential to be higher spec than either of their already so it shouldn't be too tough. Put up a good show of strengthening the group, and slowly start implementing new policies. Given that the lions weren't overpowering even at their best (they were beaten by a panda and a juvenile wolf...), the new dietary policy probably cinches it.

Having said that, they probably could manage to sneak up on him and take him out through numbers, but a few of their own are probably going to die in the process, so they're not willing to commit to it yet. Ah, the good ol' days of eating meat while serving under an herbivore...

@Boomburst yeah, totally unreal. Just look at those mad dictators disappearing after they treat their subordinates like trash... Oh wait.
