I am not understanding the logic here. China wanting the islands so that it can surround and pressure Taiwan into unification is alright, but how does the U.S. forcing Japan to cede these Islands lessen its trade deficit? Does China just straight up pay trillions of dollars to the U.S. or suddenly buy more U.S. goods? I feel like most of the story so far has been as logical as a story like this can be so I am a little disappointed with the reasoning presented in this chapter. Anyways, thanks for the the hard work in bringing us this chapter.

@nelanlan
That whole segment was a fucking headache to translate but the way I understood it was by selling the Senkaku islands (which are going to be at least a few billion in dollars minimum) the US will certainly get a huge revenue from it lessening their deficit, China will get a tighter grip on Taiwan, and the US gets a tighter grip on Okinawa/Japan probably helping reduce their trade deficit with Japan.
Senkaku islands alone are highly strategic thanks to maritime traffic around there, as well as fishing/underground ressources. Japan/China have been in fights about it for years, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd pay trillions to get it.
But that's just how I understand it, I've also been looking those deficits number up, and as far as I found, Japan never was their second biggest trade deficit around the period Begin seemingly takes place so uh yeah :)
