Why are the "professional anomaly killers" being introduced like that means they're an elite unit? Weren't the exorcists the MC was a part of professional anomaly killers as well? Like, that was their whole thing, and the MC was one of the best.

I don’t want to spoil Chapter 6, and maybe 7.

Yes, but Tōjurō is one of the better skilled exorcists, especially for his age. The EU team was probably having a very difficult time dealing with their anomalies. That’s why he was sent to Germany in Chapter 1. Quatre’s comments up to now make it sound like Exorcists get killed in action all of the time; that’s probably why he’s cautious around Behemoth.

The author uses the word 討伐 or Toubatsu which means to subjugate. It’s fitting for a profession like exorcism. Although it can mean to defeat (either pacify or kill), take control, or force someone or something into submission, subjugations in this series so far appear to just be murder.

Since the end of Chapter 1 Tōjurō has been actively trying to find nonfatal methods to deal with them, and Behemoth. Even the EXORZ JP President, Kaminuma, has stated no country in the world (as far as the plot is telling us) has successfully captured an Anomaly’s powers. They may have also failed to catch anomalies alive. As you saw at the end of this chapter capturing them alive might be an impossible task.

As for “that group” the author refers to them as “異形殺しのプロフェショナルたち” or “Professional Anomaly Killers”. It’s implied those ladies just kill anomalies with no hesitation; and most likely have an incredibly high kill count, and success rate.
