Uh! She is cleverer than me in this case. I didn't think about the possibility, that he could hid something different than the children in the woods. Maybe he isn't involved in the kidnapping after all. Maybe he has a hidden loot stash, a smuggling depot or something else and his son is keeping watch, so he knows he hasn't been kidnapped. Or he and his son are poochers and he doesn't want the villagers to see or fall into their traps. "Tell me, what is over there.", implies that she suspects him to be one of the kidnapper, yet keeps other possibilities open, too. She is not drawing conclusions too fast, while still keeping the possibilities in mind. I like that.

It was obv he had something to do with the kids the second he didn’t want to look for his. Woulda been more convincing if he seemed even a little torn about it.
