Wow, the cult leader of Aum Shinrikyo was executed this summer. I totally missed it.

“On 6 July 2018, after exhausting all appeals, Asahara and six other followers were executed by Japan, as punishment for the 1995 attacks and other crimes.[3][4] On 26 July 2018, the remaining 6 followers on death row were executed by Japan.[5]”

An interesting take on cult life and thought. While some may be turned off by the amount of sexually explicit imagery, Yamamoto manage to pull off a wonderfully creepy story with moments that are haunting.

Also I want to add a note on the words in double quotes ,this is an important detail that I'm glad Yamamoto included. The note at the beginning of this manga doesn't really go into how important it is rather it just explains how to read it. The words in quotes are "cult speak" which is a powerful tool a cult uses to further isolate their members and brainwash them. A cult will sometimes create it own sort of language by introducing new terms and more importantly changing the meaning of existing words to intentional confuse and control it's members. So keep this in mind as one of the ways the author shows how far gone the characters are.

WORST. HENTAI. EVER.

I thought DRAGON HEAD was a disappointment but this... One is interesting to keep reading but the ending tells you nothing and it's full of annoying philosophy. The other is just porn and zero story development or explanations apart from the main plot.
BELIEVERS feels like a good idea that was writen all in one go while the writer was horny and watching porn on the background. The porn is fully detailed and sometimes takes a whole chapter (imagine if you are like a berserk fan and waited 6 months for a chapter of just lame sex). But the story development is awful and stupid (even with the "band of the hawks" translation, making the retarded words have some sense with 'chairman and operator').
The manga should've focus on showing more of the "main world" talk about this cult and more details about the stuff they do. How lame is it to see that the fan base of a game are the followers of the cult? "A cult leader started his cult with fans of the game 'Life is Strange' or 'The Last of Us' ". Imagine this news. Completely unbelievable lol.
And operator remembering his mom was the one who first followed the cult. His OLD HAG OF A MOM is a gamer? LOL

Really great manga. I wish they subbed the movie. I also wish Mr. Yamamoto would be more concerned with drawing great stuff like this instead of starting flame wars on Twitter over his free speech right to draw child porn.
