A lazy narrative tactic.
You say lazy, whne it has been set up slowly, only to burst into rapid action these few chapters...
Any other series would milk this into a separate arc, maybe even three

I do kinda agree, but it's a somewhat decent pace, if we don't account for the release time lol
Then again nobody was picking this up since last year so I'm just glad to see it back

Not the whole situation but the incomprehensible escalation. She points a sword at someone stronger then her and the response was to fire an arrow!? Possibly a kill shot. Just kind of ridiculous.

We all know Saitou is going to seduce the snake. One more character for Saitou's harem!
He is supposed to be the handyman not the bard.

Really? I thought it was pretty on point
It's definitely still a bad optic but on their pov they are after a demon king they were barely able to kill the last time it was alive, and they are on a self-imposed time limit before the demon king absorbs enough monsters and adventurers to be unstoppable again.
Heck, one of them died (before revival) so they aren't predilected towards letting it have any time to talk.

I won't be surprised if things went to shit in the next chapter as multiple concurrent disadvantages just makes it hard for a peaceful resolution.
Saitou is currently unable to communicate with anyone and running on instinct, the knights aren't likely to stop when their target is right there, Raelza is accidentally making things worse by provoking Saitou's protective instinct...

It's a shitshow regardless
Maybe the elf knight can somehow make the former hero help? It's somewhat seem to be building up to something like that but that's just an assumption I'm making.

I mean, the warrior, the old mage, the faery, the "mercenary" (forgot the name of the black-haired gay guy). Without mentioning Monpui, it may not be romantic, but he hasn't been honestly friendly to anyone but Saitou. He is a bard in all but name. He may not play music, but he is a jack of all trades!
