I think the biggest problem with serialized television today is the bar for expectation is set WAY too high. Everyone expects every series to have huge budget top level art, design, animation, sound, voice acting, etc. and if any single detail is lacking, the internet and people of today will scrutinize it into oblivion and the watchers and subsequent sales will drop making it unsustainable to continue producing a "subpar" anime. With this, now every anime needs so much more time for a 1 season 12 episode run that it'll take way too long to produce anything substantially without cutting out anything. It really sucks :/

Sadly, creating anime for the love of the game is slowly becoming a relic of the past because it has to be about profits.

Anime and manga is becoming sterile or probably already sterile. Everything from plot, characters and themes have to be consistently based on the preferences and the sensibilities of the majority in order to accumulate maximum profits.

If the makers want to push their anime or manga to the masses, they have to inject fucking memes or nostalgia-bait, recreating a scene from a Hollywood film. I honestly want to see these creators express themselves at their purest and distilled form, and I'm very thankful and appreciative of the creators and supporters like you that I get to explore niche subjects. It helps me ground myself in the grand scheme of things.
