konosuba, slime (bit too cutsey) and maybe original sword art (manga is actually worse on that one for once, skips a lot of the horrible stuff the characters go through).

awful genre, sick to death of clicking something new only to read "cheat skill" and closing window, or crap like re:monster endlessly listing skill names in lieu of plot.

shout out to sword art and log horizon as good examples (.hack probably started it but that's a mess) but konosuba in both anime and manga forms is about the only one I've thoroughly enjoyed.

edit - props for mangas of Mushoku Tensei (nice watching characters grow up), youjo senki (really grim yet quite comedic) and Isekai Transporter (doesn't really have legs but the concept of truck-san is an absolute must-read in the genre)

and how the heck did i forget re:zero. best one by a long way of modern mainstream isekai

If I were to play favorites it would probably be:

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari

or

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken.

For no action:

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shite shimatta...

Inuyasha, From Far Away, The Vengeful White Cat Sitting in the Dragon King's Lap, maaaaybe Fushigi Yuugi although the characters are annoying (the author can write boys well, but her girls are at each other's throats all the time and it gets annoying after a while. -__-; and she really, REALLY loves assault as a plot device... but still, FY is a classic Isekai with a good art style. ) It isn't *technically* an Isekai, but it's in the same style, by an Isekai artist: Sugar Apple Fairy Tale. So good I bought the light novels in Japanese even though I can't read them ((yet!))

Of the modern strictly-Isekai crop, I'd say White Cat is probably best... But I love shoujo and dislike gore and violence. Cute kitty makes friends with fairies and is semi-adopted by an old lady who looks like my grandma... <3 Fluffy and relaxing, and the art is done by Aki, so it's BEAUTIFUL. It's the most cutely-drawn cat I've seen, and I'm a cat manga otaku, I've read them all. 10/10 would read just for the cute fluffy artwork. But yeah if you don't like shoujo it's gonna give you cavities.

ed: White Cat does have romance as the cat is technically a girl who can magically shapeshift, but I read it for the fluff and b/c Chelsea looks just like my grandma.

ed 2: OH, how could I have forgotten the first classic?! "Ouke no Monshou" AKA "The Crest of the Royal Family." Carol, an American archaeology student in the 70's, gets trapped in ancient Egypt and falls in love with a Pharaoh; political, magical, and international hijinks ensue. Carol's knowledge of history, makes history. Crest of the Royal Family is the one that birthed them all. It's also one of the longest-running manga series of all time, alongside Glass Mask / Glass no Kamen.

((I'm old as dirt and like shoujo, my recommendations should be taken accordingly. No idea what young boys like- slimes? Elf girls?? Magic swords?? Video games??))
