@Stillalalee I think what is happening is he specifically is rushing. He's so desperate for affection that he misunderstood her sympathy for love and thus instantly clung to her. As a result, he's acting like they are already a married couple, wheres she is just taking every day in stride. Her choice of words isn't helping either. She never said why she doesn't want him to get hurt, just that she is worried about him. And while that may be true to an extent, it's mostly because she doesn't want to feel pain since she feels the pain of those she heals. She also admitted him being handsome, and she's said various other vague things that makes her seem like she is in love with him when she is just giving out compliments in an attempt to keep him placated. Definitely feels off, but I think it's because of him rather than the story itself, but if this is based on a novel then I haven't read it and thus don't know if anything was actually skipped or something.
