She was underpowered for 2 situations that didn't really hurt her all that much except piss her off. After that, she got angry and yelled at her brother and the red haired guy and that was her empowerment moment. Then out of nowhere she has a "sword talent" which apparently is complimented by having the strongest sword in existence. Which APPARENTLY translates into being the best in the universe. And also, being OP is in no way a requirement in any story to be good, even reincarnation stories, it's just that the way the characters get their strength that matters. Also Overlord is completely different in every way possible.
Also she can spot hot guys some fucking how which adds too much conflict than this author/artist is capable to produce.

@RalekTheOne How can Melissa be Mary Sue when she hardly has any magic powers, not particularly bright, has no charm, and not talented in anything else other than the sword? Also, apart from her "people" (Nine, Yuri, Yona, the servants of the manor), everybody in this world still hates her. Mary sue is a character that everyone adores for no reason at all, much like the heroine in a romance story. Mary Sues are also good at everything without trying. You could argue that her being talented in swordsmanship makes her Mary Sue, but even then, she has so many other flaws that the title doesn't fit at all. Even the fact that she's good at festival games has a reason because "she snuck out to play them". Now, if she was the perfect student with perfect grades and STILL good at games, THAT would be a Mary Sue

@micahskeet Fine, not Mary Sue, but she gets what she wants however she wants, and the things she suck at she can easily compensate for them with power, which she has plenty of right now.
(Not political, physical. It's a magic and swords world, physical power's gotta be as important as political)
And the only people that matter who don't like her are the antagonists who she hates herself anyways, so you can't really count them not liking her as unlucky or unfortunate.

@RalekTheOne I am already satisfied that you admitted she's not a Mary Sue. Her being powerful is no different from Saitama being able to one-punch anyone anyway yet nobody has a prob with it. If it's a girl character suddenly it's an issue *shrug

@micahskeet OPM is an entirely different story with completely different universe. The universe is silly and power is gained at the whims of anybody, so who cares if mc is the best, and it doesn't even matter if MC is super strong because of his major flaw of not trying his best in eradicating monsters, he just has an average man mindset despite his powers which makes it all funny. This girl has none of that.
On another note, people wouldn't have an issue if OPM was female, they'd just sexualize him 10x more. what would be an issue is suddenly turning him female.

Okay, I admit, this was not what I thought was going to happen. (I made a prediction last chapter)

Right, this is a shojou not a shonen.
