because 90% of the story he didn't do anything or have any personality except for "crying". Meanwhile Yuri expressed many emotions, had her own storyline going on (conscious of story repeats, which wasn't explored in the end), was more decisive.

Not to mention that Yuri's feelings had far more development
Nine just got picked up off the street, got called a good boy, and went full infatuated and the dynamic between him and Melissa remained stagnant like that until Cartena stepped in and ruined the balance

Meanwhile we see Melissa grapple with whether or not to interfere with the story, before snapping and declaring herself one of the love rivals. We see how Yuri goes from despondent to mirthful, and how every little thing Melissa does to the boys makes her laugh. We see Melissa fight and struggle to keep Yuri from becoming the "Canary" right alongside Yuri's despair and relief as she finds herself in the same scenarios only to be have things change again and again thanks to her villainess

Like it was obvious from the onset that the Nine ship would make it to the end, but with how much Yuri's feelings were being explored and the rivalry between Yuri and Nine was always at the forefront, I was sure something would come of it. Granted I started skipping and skimming chapters at the end once I felt the Yuri ship start sinking, so I could've missed something, but in the last goddamn chapter she gets two panels and no dialogue or anything. We get a fucking letter from Peacock in jail, but not one from her?

Things were setup so well for this to be a thruple romance but of course we can't have nice things
