I wonder why it's a trope for Japanese people to think dyed hair is sooo cool when it's discriminated by them, namely the older generation, employers, etc.
UOOHH KIZAKI-KUN IS LONELY, TAMU-TAMUU!! You can't get any more fashionable than this or he will get more lonely, Tamuraa!!
Oh, you forgot to thank Kizaki-kun for that, now show your gratitude in the next chapter alright Tamu-tamu??!
@IrregularPerson I think part of the appeal of dyed hair is exactly that it is non-conforming to the social standard. Hence many delinquents or rebellious students are depicted with dyed hair.
And perhaps another reason is that a large number of Asian people have black hair, so perhaps they want to dye their hair to be different from other people.
@IrregularPerson in some Japanese schools there are teachers tasked with upholding "public morality" and walk around with a colour scale in the mornings measuring where kids' hair colours are ((white)exchange students are generally exempted). several shades of brown are okay, anything else will give you some kinda punishment (like re-dyeing your hair black) and I think in this specific case, with Tamura, he wasn't planning on dyeing his hair blond or anything - but probably some kinda shade of (darker?) brown.
