I am usually excited to read about heroines who aren't Mary Sues. Unfortunately, this female MC was just awfully shallow, selfish, and mean.
I feel so sorry for the male MC,
Fortunately, there were other side romances developing along the way, with at least one that I found cute. The unnecessary but adorable revelation of one enigmatic character's love interest also made me chuckle.
tl;dr: Mostly terrible characters that will make you keep reading so you can learn their comeuppance.
And her character doesn't grow at all until the end.

with his Pollyanna response to the chronic abusive treatment he's getting.
