Ever notice how Tsutomu is a wet blanket until it's time to advance the plot, and then he has his token "I'm angry and determined moment" before going back to normal? Well at least they're finally doing something with it, even if he's just become more of a liability for Birdy.

During the end of the first part and throughout the second part, Birdy and Tsutomu have been rubbing off on each other. Birdy is starting to think a little before acting and Tsutomu is becoming more aggressive. Remember when the first series started? If he was any more passive he would have been buried.

I like the development, I just wish it was portrayed more consistently. Tsutomu mans up every few volumes or so to show how serious things are getting, but goes back to being a Nervous Nelly until it's time for the next serious moment. At least this time it's actually part of the story itself.
