Each chapter just keeps introducing dumber people, holy fuck....why author, WHY???!

The hero isn’t particularly strong – he himself said he is a novice sword fighter who only has experience of 4 months –, whereas these are knights with years of experience.
Also it was explicitly said that this was a secret mission to kill the wyverns before anyone finds out they exist, and that currently many eyes of the city are on the hero. So setting out with him would immediately betray the mission.
In hindsight it was futile because the wyverns attacked earlier than anticipated, but the plan itself wasn’t “fucking stupid”.
