this whole finale has just been the author speedrunning the worst most overdone shounen battle manga tropes and he's not even doing them well. Literally from the second Mirio got killed the first time the manga fell off a cliff. I'm just continuing to see the ending, but it just keeps going with this shit.
pretty much, all this "twists" are dumb and tiresome, you can't simply keep putting more and more twists like this.

At thi poi8nt you don't care anymore as the author keeps pulling bullshit out of the hat

I'm not some sophisticated art critic or anything, but I'm still having a good time. Just in tonight's mass upload we've gone from Ichigo catching Aizen's sword to Domon's final strike against Master Asia to mimicking Ultra Instinct, and I'm curious what asspull the author's going to pull next.
I get what you mean. I'm just at the point where I can't help but have fun with the sheer madness of it all.
I will say that the sword being the goddess's arm makes a lot of sense in retrospect.

Completely expecting the next chapter to be "Psych, Mirio was actually returning from Hell for a second time while his body was fighting autonomously!"

I think I'm starting to understand the problem here. Reading this arc feels like I've been reading a novel rather than a manga. So it's either the artist isn't skilled enough to show and not tell or the author is obsessing over minute details that easily could've been left out in a visual adaptation.

... Or maybe it's both.

It's incredibly hard to feel any emotional response to "oh no he's dying" when he's acting extremely alive and he's obviously going to make it out of this fine.

The thing about prolonging his life doesn't even make sense. On that basis you'd think if someone's heart stops they'll live forever, and a normal heartbeat is what leads inexorably to our death. It's uh...kind of the opposite.

So the people of Soil were all super powered Übermensch but just kept to themselves and never sought power or notoriety until Mirio just so happened to be selected to be the Hero by the Holy Sword? Sure, author-san. Whatever you say man.

Like this isn't even framed as Mirio himself being special at this point, they specifically call it out as something ALL residents of Soil are capable of and are code bound to keep secret by virtue of killing anyone else who finds out about it. How is this just now coming into the story? How has Soil been portrayed as some Podunk bum fuck Egypt town while actually harboring super soldiers? Even worse is that they aren't even magically enhanced, it's just sheer brute strength and skill. Soil is essentially the Expedition 60 of the world except no one knew about it somehow.

But yeah, you can't feel any tension during all of this because the same chapter something happens to knock down Mirio's protagonist power a peg he immediately counters with some other bullshit super power he secretly had all along. Super powers that Iver apparently also know about due to seeing Mirio's hidden depths; despite the fact that she just wanted to suck his dick when they first met and was reluctant to have anything to do with him except when the author wanted them to fuck and suddenly she got super horny. No no, you see it was all part of some Machiavellian plan.

So many fucking data to fucking process and just to fucking get to the point.

Therefore, it's either the author is fucking with us or our mind is fucking with us too.
