His heart was pierced at the beginning, so Rossweiss had to take her heartscale, the scale that protects the heart of dragons and put it over Leon's destroyed heart to keep it "alive". Problem is heartscales consume absurd ammounta of magic to keep functioning the way she used it. In short, his magic is keeping his heart functioning. He ca store magic in said heartscale tho but just unconsciously for now. Because he is unaware of the scale at this point.

Help, the cover art reminds me of another Chinese webtoon/comic/strip, whatever this is called. I think it’s because of the white hair. But I remember this one having an emperor that is secretly a woman. Mc could transform into other people and he found out it was a woman. So she made him take her place at times. There’s also the emperor’s harem that he had to get used to, and the “emperor” joins in once in a while as a “concubine” too to mess with him.
