I don't what's going on now. It's like reading him live his life. But as a story it's kinda bad for the author to have no path in storyline.
To be honest, this is a story about how childhood tragedies can alter someone’s life. I don’t think it is meant to be entertaining, more like an introspective commentary on this specific situation and how he can find catharsis through his miserable existence. The first step of it is forgiving.

I still wonder if there's no day care for elder people in Japan. Or does Seichi just don't know and won't reach for help? I think it would help him a lot to know someone takes care of her during the day and when he's away.
Anyway, I hope he gets some help soon. I forgot her name but I wonder if his former classmate shows up again after they met at the graveyard. She's the only one he ever made some connection with aside from his mother.

I love how all these westoids don't understand family duties
We get it all right. It's just a mystery to all of us why he is even bothering to give any form of kindness after destroying his life like this. Is it out of pity? Sick satisfaction watching her slowing fall apart? Change of heart? I don't know. And for the "Familial duties" angle, I've seen characters either do it because they want to or they are guilted into it by less then deserving family members.

Lots of stuff to consider, yet the story is leaving us in the dark for now.
