So police just pop out of nowhere to interrogate a family whose kid has just been in an accident.

They could be out trying to deal with actual crimes... but instead they suddenly caught wind of some unconscious kid who fell off a cliff and they're all over it likes flies on a cowpat.

It wasn't a lie anyway. The idiot kid was dancing on the edge of a cliff, was warned not to do so, and fell off because he was a retard.
Why is protagonist boy looking so fucking terrified each chapter? And why does he keep obsessing over a dead cat he saw when he was 2?

Actually no, because he is minor, so his mother can use her rights to be around when her son give any testimonies. Some cops can give a shot and separte, some just don't bother because law on the mother/father side anyway, imo.

• Why'd they investigate if nobody pressed charge?
