Why is it that so many of the shorter manga end so abruptly?!? ;w;
This work has been great; the pacing was pretty good, the story remained interesting, and the chemistry between our two leads was engaging (as far as I was concerned. Now, all of the sudden, BAM "the end"...

Why?

I'd like to feel like I know the ending is coming, and not because some fine print at the bottom of the last page tells me that'll happen in one or two chapters.

Other than that, it's been a good run. I hope the final chapter indulges us. ;w;
IIRC it might be because Kawada sensei have a newborn so perhaps they are having a tough time managing duties between family and manga serialization.

Definitely feels a bit sudden. Could have had a few chapters about the relationship while they're apart and then a few chapters after they reunite, at least...

Smells a bit of a sudden, but tbh this is a price of a rapid progress, not so much you can do with this story without involving the silly tropes.

mangakas might have a hard time writing a good LDR romance since it's not that common in Japan.
Its fairly common. Its just the relationship until they are 25ish and stop being the office bitch is "We exchange texts a few times a week and meet up at Obon/Christmas and fuck then pass out".
This describes most short-distance relationships as well.

Jump is getting to be really inhospitable to anything that isn't at least half a decade old.

And not battle shonen slop, yes
I don't think that's the case, it might be more akin to @b-no 's suposition that the author's juggling family and work might be the cause for it to end early 🤔
Never heard about author's problems, makes sense. Anyway, manga started to feel a bit off since the needless third wheel arc and honestly I'm glad that it's ending on the higher note.

I, unfortunately, have to agree

It started to feel like some of the conflicts were "inserted," rather than "happen," if you know what I mean (could probably put it nicely into words, but it'd take too long)

welp, at least this one knew how to develop the characters long enough, unlike beat & motion

It was a good run indeed but I'm kind of upset Kawada sensei just glazed over the LDR situation. I was hoping LDR was explored in the current arc but Kawada sensei also has a newborn so it might be hard to juggle family and mangaka duties. Furthermore, mangakas might have a hard time writing a good LDR romance since it's not that common in Japan.

Looking forward for the ending. I'll miss this manga as this is one of my favorites.
This is why you don't have kids jk.

It is what it is and, if a newborn is the reason for the early finale, I'll take it over unjust Axe-kun.
