I know this is not that sort of manga but i would pay money to see that dude getting his shit kicked in. This entire thing was a massive bullying spree to begin with (including other retards who tried to stop him) but i didn't think this story would have that kind of asshole in it.

Also they decided to bring back the idea that being with Chinatsu was a death trap from all those years back, which was pretty dumb considering Taiki is in the nationals and has beaten Haryu before. Rare L chapter ngl

This story would have done great as an anthology series. Have Taiki and Chinatsu's story (but revised so best girl Hina wins obv), then move on to Ryo's and Haryu's subplots and give them each time to shine. As it stands it doesn't feel loke there is a narrative throughline.

I just want to see the Ayame/Kyo storyline play out, but I guess the author feels they can't forget about the main couple so we get pointless drama inserted like this. They can take a backseat for a while, it's fine.

No, it's not the same.
The other guys (I think there were 3 specific guys) were being nuisances but you could say it was all in good fun. They never forced Taiki to do anything and Taiki was free to tell them to take a hike at any point and only didn't because he's too nice.
What this guy did is an actual crime (false imprisonment) and I would totally be going over to the police (or at the very least the school) about it if I were Taiki or Chinatsu.

I see some people complaining that the quality of the manga has dropped or that the author doesn't know what else to write, but I don't think so at all. He clearly has some plans left for Taiki's friends' stories to resolve while we see more of Taiki's and Chinatsu's relationship develop. Not to mention the necessary developments regarding the sports clubs and Chinatsu's graduation + Taiki's 3rd year. It's annoying when romance manga finish right after the couple is established.
This chapter could be considered filler, but it's always nice to see that Chinatsu cares about and trusts in Taiki as much as Taiki does for her, given that we usually only follow Taiki's perspective.

I was far more interested in their relationship then the main couple because they had been focusing on it for awhile and then just pivited to so werid pointless drama, yeah. I really dont understand what they were going for writing wise unless they were trying to intentionally annoy readers which seems counter productive to me.
