I'm repeating myself because it's proving to be right, even though we basically knew some of this for a while.
First, this series is extremely shallow. Trauma/issue has been haunting you for literally years? Herp derp, have one event with your school friends, and everything is better now. Never mention it again. Got gang raped and tried to commit suicide? Had a friend commit suicide because she killed her father? Friend betrayed you and injured your leg? Felt pressured by your parents because you have a gender dysphoria sister? All it takes is one single school event, and everything is better! We never have to mention any of that again! Or, we might make some passing references to it, but we're all better now, and there are no lingering effects, even though these are literally issues that have been going on for years.
Second, again, the setup is bad. We have four students who were all gathered together because they were failing their classes. They were not gathered because they had past traumas. It was specifically because they were failing. The background message there is that all failing students have some kind of past trauma that they have to overcome in order to do anything. To make it clear, overcoming your trauma does not guarantee success, as seen with Daichi. However, the background message is still that if you're a part of this group, you MUST have some kind of past trauma. There's no one here who just has difficulty with school work and nothing else. If you are failing, then you have a trauma. Done.
Both of those issues make this crap.
