Oh, absolutely. Anyone who thinks otherwise is lacking some serious media literacy. At no point during that backstory does the author try to act like his behavior was excusable or rational. Let alone redeemable, or worthy of pity. Bro literally admits to wanting to do to soccer players psychologically what his father did to him physically. This chapter mainly serves as context for how a scumbag like this can come into existence and negatively affect vulnerable people like Ness
