I really liked the teachers before the university part of the manga.
Both art teachers told their students things they needed to know, expanded on that and gave them good conclusions and advice.

The university teachers are just assholes. Yeah you gotta tell the guy to get his head out of his ass and be better than what he currently is but you don't do that by throwing a spear through his ego and telling him he's not good enough, that kind of strategy usually backfires.

And some people might argue that at that level of learning teachers are usually assholes, but that's just a myth.

Page 3 hit me like a truck. When I was a kid an old man once saw me drawing and asked me to draw him. I'd rarely drawn real people before so I tried to just draw what I could and when I showed it to him he said "that doesn't look like me". It's been over a decade and a half since that day and I still remember that vividly. I'm sure in the moment he was just being sincere. It didn't look like him. But it's crazy how that piece of criticism has stuck after all this time.
