Something about the way this was written feels shallow and I can't quite put my finger on what. I guess I'd normally expect that cliffhanger to begin the second half of a first manga chapter and establish the core problem/dynamic more strongly. We'll see where it goes.

Sometimes Japanese media has weird Anglosphere name drops, and I can't see the relevance of Marcel Proust to this manga. If the mangaka actually read In Search of Lost Time that'd be really cool though.
Edit: totally hasn't lol. One thing a lot of people who haven't read Proust know about his work is the presence of examples of involuntary memory. It's usually just the madeleines though.
