Aw man, there is always a girl better than the FL, hopefully she becomes a lover of the MC although I know it won't happen. I wish mangaka made their FLs as attractive as possible, but they always seem underwhelming, especially when there are better looking side characters introduced. Nah I get you. Those types of FL also tend to be tsundere which I personally despise. I think the point for FL like this one is the gap moeness.

Female Lead, ML is the equivalent for male leads. MC = Main character and could be either the ML or FL depending on the story. Generally in romance the FL and ML are the primary pairing.
I'm not quite sure how the logistics would work if there's more than one lead of the same gender though (would they both be ML / both FL? Idk, maybe L1 and L2?) or of indeterminate/non-binary gender.

I was only talking about physical attractiveness but I hate tsunderes as well, it's just a shame that many people seem to like them so they are present in almost every manga. I've rarely ever seen a mangaka make a FL with a great personality and appearance, it's like they somehow need to sacrifice one to have the other, and it's even worse when they have neither. It pains me when there are side characters who you would just love to be the FL but you know they will never end up with the MC

I'm fine with mild tsunderes but these days I swear they mixed up tsundere with yandere.
